MARGOT AKNIN

Margot Aknin grew up in San Jose, California, where she trained at Los Gatos Ballet under Marcie Ryken for ten years. After high school, she spent three years in the Graduate Program at Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School, where she performed notable lead roles with the school and also in works with the main company, including Terrence Orr’s Swan Lake, Don Quixote, The Nutcracker, La Bayadère, Sleeping Beauty, and Beauty and the Beast. Margot was a member of BalletMet 2 for their 2015–2016 season, performing corps and soloist roles in ballets by Edwaard Liang, David Nixon, Gustavo Ramirez Sansano, Gerard Charles, and George Balanchine.

She joined Dayton Ballet in 2016 where she danced for five seasons, performing roles including Daisy in Ron Cunningham’s The Great Gatsby, Odette in Septime Webre’s Swan Lake, and in other works by choreographers including Jiří Kylián, Amy Seiwert, Jessica Lang. Margot joined Newport Contemporary Ballet in Newport, RI. in 2021 where she has danced in works by Danielle Genest, Amy Hall Garner, Nicolo Fonte, Kristopher Estes-Brown, and Miki Ohlsen, among others. Margot is the Team and Recreational Ballet teacher for all levels at Dance Expressions in Middletown, RI.
